Trauma Counselling
CNCI was the first among the Chambers to offer its assistance in Government efforts to provide relief to Tsunami affected persons along the coastal areas of the country.

Whilst many GO’s & NGO’s provided material relief, the CNCI offered to provide Trauma relief to the affected. Accordingly, the Ministry of Women’s Affairs & Social Welfare entrusted several Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Galle District for the programme.

CNCI in association with the Sri Lanka National Association of Professional Counsellors conducted Trauma Counselling sessions in Hikkaduwa, Ambalangoda, Rathgama, Galle etc. bringing much mental relief to those affected.

The program was conducted on two continuous five-day sessions during the months of February & March 2005 and over 1200 men, women & children were successfully counselled.

The programme cost the CNCI over Rs. 500,000/- a major portion of which was donated by a past Chairman of CNCI and few other donors from CNCI membership.

Though the programme is of utmost importance, the CNCI had to discontinue same due to lack of financial resources.
