The Immediate
Past Chairman of the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries,
Mr Nimal Perera, is a Textile Industrialist / Management Consultant
by profession with 22 years experience. He is the Chairman
/ Managing Director - Nids Fabrics (PVT) LTD, a Textile Manufacturing
Company in Sri Lanka which handles mainly on Government Orders.
Mr Perera is a Member of the Board of Textile Training
& Services Centre (TT&SC), Ratmalana, Sri Lanka
which is an Institution under Ministry of Textile Industries
and the sister organization of Clothing Industry Training
Institute (CITI). He is also a Director of Kuruwita Textile
Mills Ltd, a Public Quoted Company that owns one of Asia's
best Textile Dyeing Plant, which cater to the apparel Industry.
"Kuruwita" is a Member Company of Brandix Group,
which is the largest Apparel Exporter in Sri Lanka where
Mr Perera was fully involved in setting up the Plant.
Mr Nimal Perera is the Chairman of Joint Business Forum
(JBIZ), the Joint Forum of Chambers of Commerce and Industry,
Employers Organizations and Trade Associations of Sri Lanka,
which had been formed to represent the private sector on
macro economic issues and issues which has a bearing on
people of the country.
Furthermore, Mr Perera is the Vice President of Japan Sri
Lanka Technical & Cultural Association (JASTECA) an
organization that provides scholarships for management &
technical training and which is also the Alumni of AOTS.
Mr Perera has obtained Management training from Association
for Overseas Technical Scholarships (AOTS) in Tokyo, Japan
through a Scholarship received and he is also an expert
in 5S Japanese Management System. He is the former Chairman
of the 5S steering Committee. Being a Lecturer on Japanese
5S system at the International Apparel Management Training
Programe held in Sri Lanka organized jointly by JAICA, TT&SC
and CITI, Mr Perera has conducted Public Lectures and in-house
training programmes in more than 100 organizations including
apparel sector, plantation sector and multinational companies
on Japanese Management systems and to the Bsc (Management
& Information Technology) students at University of
Kelaniya. He has also presented papers on Japanese 5S concept
at International Forums held in Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh.
