The Long awaited CNCI Achievers Award 2009 Grand Award presentation, organized by the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries for the 8th consecutive year was held on Friday 11th September, 2009 at the Committee Hall B, BMICH, Colombo 7.  The Chief Guest at the grand and colourful event was Hon. Professor G.L. Peiris, Minister of Export Development and International Trade and Acting Minister of Post & Telecommunication.  He was accompanied by the special guest Hon Geethanjana Goonawardena, Minister of Housing and former deputy speaker in the Parliament.   The special guest of Honour was Mrs Leisha De Silva Chandrasena, The Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Telecom PLC.  The event was graced by a large gathering of Foreign Diplomats, High Commissioners & Ambassadors representing all SAARC Countries, China & USA.

Over 700 participants representing the Sri Lankan Industrial/Manufacturing/Service Sector were present.  52 Established business Enterprises from the Micro, small, medium, large & extra large sectors in Manufacturing & Service sector received Gold/Silver/Bronze/Merit awards at the grand ceremony.  The top grade Crystal Award  on National level for 2009 and the Crystal Award  on provincial level 2009 was won by the ACL Cables PLC. and Silicone Coatings (Pvt) Ltd. two of the prestigious industrial enterprises in Sri Lanka.  The special feature of Achiever Awards 2009, was the granting of Awards to Sri Lankan enterprises operating in SAARC Countries.  Sri Lankan Enterprises in India, Bangladesh, Maldives and Pakistan were eligible to receive their Gold Awards for 2009 – for their Award winning performances. Further all SAARC Countries were also given the opportunity to nominate an eligible company through their respective Commerce & Industry Chambers for the SAAARC nominee Awards.
