Mr. H. A. D. U. G. Gunasekera is a holder of National Diploma in Technology (NDT) in Chemical Engineering from Katubedda Campus, University of Sri Lanka and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Post Graduate Institute of Management. He also holds a LLB Degree from the Open University of Sri Lanka.

Mr. Gunasekera is a Fellow of Institute of Incorporate Engineers of Sri Lanka and Fellow of Institute of Management Services UK.

A Council Member of Institute of Management Services, Sri Lanka Branch, he is also a Member of the Technical Advisory Committee of National Science Foundation and a Member of the National Steering Committee of the Project on NCSA.

In 1978, Mr. Gunasekera joined Union Carbide Ceylon Limited, which is an affiliated Company, where he functioned as Operations Engineer of PVA Latex Manufacturing Plant of Union Carbide Lanka Limited and was involved in setting up of the plant.

He has worked as operations Engineer, Asst. Plant Manger, Plant Manager and General Manager at Union Carbide Lanka Limited. Presently, Mr. Gunasekera is the Managing Director of Union Chemicals Lanka Limited (formerly known as Union Carbide Lanka Limited).

He has represented his Company and attended Safety, Research and Development and Technical Meetings in the Asia Pacific Region and the U.S.A. on many occasions.

Mr. Gunasekera joined the Executive Council of the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries in the year 2001 and represented the Management Committee since 2004. At present he serves CNCI Management Committee as a Vice Chairman and the Chairman of the Chemical Sector.
