CNCI 7TH ACHIEVER OF INDUSTRIAL EXCELLENCE AWARDS – 2008

The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI), the premier Industrial Chamber in the country continues to recognize and reward excellence in the country’s Industrial Entrepreneurship in both manufacturing and service sectors and conduct CNCI Achiever Awards for the 7th consecutive year.  The Awards presentation is due to take place on 16th July 2008 at the Grand Ballroom, Hilton Hotel, Colombo. The application forms and guidelines are now available at the CNCI secretariat, Apartment 20, 1st floor, Galle Face Court 2, Colombo 03 or could be downloaded from its website Downloads

This prestigious event which was launched by CNCI 7 years ago to promote industrial growth in the country is unique not only among the Chambers but also for Sri Lanka Because it recognizes entrepreneurs especially those who have excelled in the industrial sector in enhancing the quality standards, productivity, employee benefits, labor relations, adherence to statutory requirements etc. CNCI also extends this competition to the SAARC Regional countries as well.

The participation is open to any sole proprietorship, partnership or limited liability company engaged in a manufacturing or specified service industry for at least three consecutive financial years ending either 31 March 2007 or 31 December 2007 in Sri Lanka or in any Sri Lankan industry operating in a SAARC regional country”.  Mr. Ratnarajah, Chairman of CNCI also added that there will be special SAARC regional country award presented to an outstanding industry/business, which has achieved industrial excellence nominated by the respective Chambers of each of the SAARC countries.

Another unique feature of this event is that it recognizes those entrepreneurs who have ventured into SAARC Area and set up Industry of their own or have 50% or more share holding in such enterprises.

As the evaluation is made on a detailed criteria encompassing the productivity standards, quality control, employee benefits and relationships, respect for the environment, Statutory obligations and social responsibility etc., it is the view of the CNCI that by encouraging larger participation annually in this “Achiever” contest, more and more companies in the Industrial Sector would be able to raise their quality standards in every respect.

Evaluation of applications will be by an independent panel of judges appointed by the Chamber and would comprise of eminent personalities representing the private and public sector

We are very much thankful to MBC/MTV channel (Pvt) Ltd. and Associated Newspapers Ceylon Ltd (ANCL), particularly Daily News for encouraging this programme by being the media sponsors from its inception.
