The 50th Annual General Meeting of the CNCI
Business Session
 

The 50th Annual General Meeting of The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries was held on Friday 7th October 2011 at the Langdon Room, Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo. A large gathering including the Past Chairmen, Patrons, Senior Officials and Chamber members were present. Mr Sunil Liyanage the incumbent Chairman paid tribute to all officials of the Chamber with specific mention on the CNCI Achievers Awards 2011, which was by far one of the most colourful events organized by the Chamber on National Level.

During the meeting Mr Preethi Jayawardena, the Deputy Chairman was elected as the New Chairman of the Chamber CNCI for the year 2011/2012.

Mr Preethi Jayawardena is a highly qualified Chartered Accountant, and a Financial and Management specialist and also a reputed industrialist. He posses a vast experience in working with multinationals in Africa and Europe and currently serving as the Chairman of “The Finance Comp[any PLC.” as well as in the Monitory Advisory Board of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, apart from his responsibilities as the Managing Director/CEO of Chemanex PLC of the CIC Group, Sri Lanka.

Mr Jayawardena said that he was truly proud to hold the Chairmanship of this Institution and the pioneering Industry Chamber CNCI. He stated that the aim of the Chamber will be to stimulate the overall growth in all sectors of Industry and to encourage them to practical and professional excellence. He further stressed the importance of the Chamber to play a pro-active role in stabilizing and securing our National economy in order to face the challenges in the future. Mr Jayawardena further stated that the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries CNCI will be the guiding force and will strive to be the architect of a model economy for a brighter and prosperous future.
